Professor Samuel Cohn is a development sociologist at Texas A&M University. He has won three awards from the American Sociological Association, two of them for prize-winning books.

Development Sociology is the study of global prosperity and global poverty. The world has been on an upward trajectory for the last five hundred years. However, global growth is not guaranteed. No known civilization has maintained continuous economic growth for over one thousand years. Most societies and empires fall much sooner.

This website is about the causes of global growth and global decay. We all get a voice in determining if our growth will continue for another five hundred years or whether our world system will die early.
